Overview

Sr. Phlebotomy Technician – Eagan, MN - Monday to Friday (Rotational Weekends) - Ranges from 6:45AM to 8:30PM

 

The Sr. Phlebotomy Technician assists the supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the department. This position is responsible for accurately performing and processing Point of Care Testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children and all related functions.

 

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

Essential Generic Job Functions:

 

  • Prepares staff schedule to provide adequate coverage and updates changes daily
  • Ensures equitable distribution of workload.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with technicians, clinic staff etc. as needed in conjunction with the Supervisor.
  • Monitors to ensure work is being performed efficiently.
  • Establishes in conjunction with the Supervisor an onboarding program for new employees.
  • Performs phlebotomy and POC testing as needed.
  • Maintains drawing and POC testing carts/trays with necessary supplies.
  • Maintains all necessary supplies and places orders in a timely fashion. Displays need for cost-effectiveness in the use of supplies and materials.
  • Sorts timed specimen requisitions and distribute them according to unit assignments as necessary.
  • Obtain specimens, requisitions, draw blood or perform POC tests as needed.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic’s Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Contacts: Regular contact with clinic personnel, patients and visitors.

Physical Requirements


• Lift light to moderately heavy objects. The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects. Objects in the weight range of 1 to 15 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects in the weight range of 16 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally and objects in the weight range of 26 to 40 pounds are seldom lifted and carried. Objects exceeding 41 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently to constantly throughout the day.
• Position requires travel.
• Extensive use of phone and PC.
• Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness.
• Talking.

• Bending/kneeling.
• Pushing/pulling.
• Reaching/twisting.

 

Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of progressive, accomplished experience in POC and phlebotomy preferred.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
